With over 16 years of experience in developing first-person, living history presentations, I’ve made a lot of mistakes. This program offers you the insights that came to me hard-won. We will discuss developing a biographical character versus a composite character, cleaning up language and vocal fillers for era-appropriate speech, understanding how accents have changed across continents and decades, and finding the closest-to-accurate attire for your desired identity. We will also review tools to access primary sources, and ways to organize your research into a meaningful hierarchy.
This is not a first-person “living history” style program. Additionally, please indicate the era of American history your group wishes to focus on.
